Quality Interpreting

Qualified interpreters do more than just sign. They have extensive training to learn how to translate the spoken or signed message into a different language. Deaf people use American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, read lips, combine modes, or may have minimal formal language skills. Qualified interpreters can evaluate the language needs of the Deaf consumer and match their interpreting with those needs.

The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf is a national organization which evaluates interpreters and certifies their skill level. The evaluation is rigorous. Sign Language Connection utilizes the services of over 150 certified interpreters.
